Travel & Transport – How to get here
Dachau and Karlsfeld are perfectly accessible – whether you arrive by plane, train, or car.
We have compiled all the important information for you to ensure your journey runs smoothly.
By plane – Munich Airport (MUC)
Munich Airport is only about 40 km from Dachau and is one of the largest airports in Europe. Many international flights land here. From Munich, you can easily reach Dachau and Karlsfeld by train (approx. 45 minutes) or by rental car (approx. 45 minutes).
Tip: Use the S-Bahn express from the airport to the city center (S1 / S8) – fast, reliable, and affordable.
By train – Munich Central Station
The best train connections run via Munich. Karlsfeld and Dachau each have their own train station and can be reached from Munich by S-Bahn (S2) in about 25–30 minutes.
Connections:
- From Munich Central Station: S2 towards Petershausen or Altomünster
- Travel time: approx. 25–30 minutes
- Trains run frequently (every 10–20 minutes)
Tip: Book your train tickets early to save time and stress.
By car / bus – driving routes
Dachau and Karlsfeld are located north of Munich and are easily accessible via the A92 motorway or the B471 federal road.
From the north (e.g. Nuremberg):
- A9 to Neufahrn interchange, then A92 towards Stuttgart, exit Oberschleißheim / Dachau
- Driving time: approx. 1.5 hours
From the south (e.g. Garmisch):
- A95 to Munich, then A92 towards Dachau
- Driving time: approx. 1.5 hours
From the west (e.g. Augsburg):
- A8 to exit Dachau / Fürstenfeldbruck, then B471 directly to Dachau
- Driving time: approx. 45 minutes
Public transport
Dachau and Karlsfeld are perfectly connected to Munich’s public transport network. With the S-Bahn (S2) and local buses, you can travel quickly and affordably between locations.
Important bus lines:
- Line 172, 702: Connects Dachau ↔ Karlsfeld
- Line 702: Connects tournament halls 1–5
- Line 720, 721: Connects accommodations in Dachau ↔ tournament hall 6
Tip:
Buy a group day ticket – it’s cheaper and allows unlimited travel all day.
On foot:
Many sports halls and accommodations are within walking distance. Dachau and Karlsfeld are compact, welcoming towns – taking a walk through the city is a great experience too.
