By train Munich Central Station
From there you can take the S2 suburban train line directly to Dachau or Karlsfeld. Both towns have their own train stations.
Connections:
S2 towards Petershausen or Altomünster
Travel time: 25-30 min.
Frequency: every 10-20 min.
Tip: Book your ticket early. This saves money and hassle.
By car / bus
Dachau and Karlsfeld are located north of Munich and are easily accessible via the A8, A92, A99 and B471.
From the north (e.g. Nuremberg):
- A9 to the Neufahrn interchange, then A92 towards Stuttgart, Oberschleißheim/Dachau exit
- Then take the B471 directly to Dachau or Karlsfeld (then via the B304)
- Travel time: approx. 1.5 hours
From the south (e.g. Garmisch):
- A95 to Munich, then A96 and A99 to the Ludwigsfeld/Karlsfeld exit;
alternatively: from the end of the A96 onto the Mittlerer Ring towards Olympiapark (through Munich) - Then B304 towards Dachau/Karlsfeld
- Travel time: approx. 1.5 hours
From the west (e.g. Augsburg):
- A8 to the Dachau/Fürstenfeldbruck exit, then B471 directly to Dachau or Karlsfeld (then via B304)

Public transport
Dachau and Karlsfeld are very well connected to Munich's public transport network.
The S-Bahn (S2) and various bus lines allow you to reach all important locations quickly and affordably.
